Situational Awareness Minimizes Risk

travel alert

In places with high risk, it is important to recognize your surroundings and the possibility of threats. This 19 second clip from last week’s attack in London exhibits how not to react, followed by an example of situational awareness and safe clearing of bystanders away from the danger zone. After an attack, it is equally important to maintain your awareness, as follow attacks may trail the initial threat. Stay clear of unattended bags, packages or other places that a device could be placed (e.g. trashcans) as you exit the scene.

Put time and distance between you and any threat. Shield yourself as much as possible from any explosive device; if you can see the bomb, it can see you.
